Compulsive Liars

There are other types of liar, however, who we don’t forgive so easily. We give a hard time to dissemblers; experts at twisting words, judiciously omitting information, creating ambiguity and crafting deniability. Certain jobs seem to demand this skill: estate agents, lawyers and politicians all rely on it.

The politicians who tell us, truthfully, that we need to make hard choices tend not to be the ones who become popular, whereas the ones who tell us we can have our cake and eat it fare far better with voters.

Even less defensible are compulsive liars, who cannot help but tell fantastical whoppers, and constantly regale people with stories that plainly aren’t true. Compulsive liars have become addicted to self-glorifying fibs because they are deeply insecure. They get a kick purely out of telling a lie. They usually hurt nobody but themselves – unless by happenstance they end up in positions of real power.

Pathological liars (sometimes called psychopathic liars) are a different breed again; colder and more calculating. They lie with specific, self-serving goals, and are regarded by those unfortunate enough to cross their paths as manipulative, cunning and egotistical – usually after they’ve got what they wanted. They can be charming and credible, and wreak great damage on their victims.

A few years ago, neuroscientists carried out a study on the brains of pathological liars, and constructed a questionnaire designed to test for the condition. Their subjects came from the books of a temporary employment agencies in Los Angeles, as pathological liars find it difficult to hold down long term jobs. The short term gains from their lies usually catch up with them, and they live itinerant lives, constantly moving on to new workplaces, new relationships, new prey.

The neuroscientists discovered that the brains of pathological liars have more ‘white matter’. Loosely speaking, this is the area of the brain responsible for making quick connections. The more white matter, the faster a person’s stream of thought and the higher their verbal fluency – enhancing their ability for manipulation. The brains of pathological liars are fed by a constant supply of inventive untruths.

Previous studies had revealed that psychopaths also have low activity in the emotional parts of their brains – and thus little or no empathy for the effect their lies have on others. Pathological liars, in other words, have powerful equipment for fibbing, and no compunction whatsoever about doing so, making them particularly dangerous.

We might all lie, but at least the majority of us have the grace to feel a little bit bad about it, even when it comes from a good place.

The Most Damaging Insult

Being a liar is one of the most damaging insults you can hurl at another person. None of us wants to live or work with liars: they sow mistrust and shatter relationships.

60 per cent of adults can’t have a ten minute conversation without telling at least one lie.

Facebook and Twitter have multiplied our opportunities to tell lies, and made it much easier for them to spread; these days, a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has even woken up.

It’s not much of a coincidence that people are compulsive Facebook users, and that those same demographic of people can also be compulsive liars.

Think of Adrianne Moss Snell Lowes Arguminez (whatever her last name is by the time you’re reading this), Katy Remes, and Faith Conaway.

Look at how much ‘social manipulation’ Faith does on a continual basis for her Facebook. Hide this friend, allow this friend, tell other people who to block and who to friend (<---looking back, that one is just plain control!), make this post public but with this friend blocked & this person tagged but don't make that comment public, ..................isn't all that exhausting? Remember when Adrianne was helping Faith clear out all the belongings in our house? My phone's memory was full so, thinking of a solution to keep recording, I switched over to Facebook Live. And then. For some reason in the middle of all of this hoopla Katie decides to check her notification on Facebook on her phone And realize is that I am now live on Facebook which who looks at my Facebook page And Then a dream start throwing a fit That she was recorded on Facebook live . Remember whenever she Told the cop that she was a business owner and that he needed to make Me take that video down from Facebook? It's kind of interesting that On one hand Adrian says that she's some huge community advocate and what not yet on the other hand Then why does it matter if you're at somebody else's property not your own You're taking stuff that is somebody else is and not your own And Then You're taking Somebody else's stuff that does not It is not yours , Then why is it a problem if you're being recorded on Facebook ? You see it's all about those lies that people want you to believe And what's interesting in in all of this is that Faith katyann Adrian just flat out tell the cop Oh he's lying And they have no clue whether I'm lying or telling the truth they want me To be lying They Would feel better if I were lying. But unfortunately, the person lying wasn't' me. It was Faith.

When a legal intervention is all that’s left

When Faith Glosser Conaway was issued Protective Orders AGAINST HER from the 249th District Court of Texas, it opened the door to a “backstop” for her actions.

But it’s not an option that anyone wants to see actually get used.

In October of 2017, Faith Conaway was given 8 pages of orders which included things like coming back to the house, messing with the mail, changing account passwords, and a whole host of other line items.

If you don’t filter out the liars, are you really helping?

If you, your church, agency, non-profit, or even on and individual level….
If you’re not aware that some people are going to lie, then you’re not making policiies, procedures, intake process, and being self aware of the fact that some people are -indeed- not telling the truth.

When that happens (and, unfortunately it will) if you, your agency, your company, your non profit, and especially you on an individual level, are INDEED guilty of TAKING AWAY RESOURCES from the real victims.

That money you gave to the person whose story you didn’t check out? That money is now gone.

The time that your church spent giving counseling to that individual whose ‘easily verifiable facts’ you neglected to research? That time is now gone.

NOW, SOMEONE WHO DOES NEED HELP IS NOT GOING TO RECEIVE ANY. SOMEONE NEEDING YOUR CHURCH, INDIVIDUAL, NON-PROFIT, WOMEN’S SHELTER, or OUTREACH CENTER’s time, money, counseling, help to pay their electric bill, encouragement to leave, help with understanding their situation….

……and all you had to do was spot the liar.
